The Pier Head Beatles Statue

The Story

A bronze statue of the four Beatles on the banks of the River Mersey, unveiled in December 2015 and sculpted by Andy Edwards. The campaign to build it took years and was driven partly by Japanese fan groups, who lobbied the city persistently. The figures face the waterfront and, across the water, the direction of Hamburg, where the band first became the Beatles.
