The Story

A Victorian pub built around 1900 and frequented by The Beatles and every generation of Liverpool musicians since. Its ornate interior is Grade I listed – the highest level of historic protection in the UK – making it the first Victorian pub in the country to receive this rating. The men's toilets, decorated with mosaic and marble, are among the most beautiful in England. Women are allowed to request entry to the men's lavatories outside of peak hours. John Lennon supposedly said that the hardest thing about being famous was not being able to drink here in peace.
