The Story
The café in the basement of MacDougal Street was the epicenter of the 1960s folk revival. Bob Dylan, Dave Van Ronk, and Phil Ochs all performed here in their formative years. The film Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) is set largely in and around the Gaslight. The building is still standing, but the venue closed in 1971.
