The Story

The Beatles played here 292 times between February 1961 and August 1963, and it was here on November 9, 1961, that manager Brian Epstein first saw them. The original cellar was demolished in 1973 to make way for a railway ventilation shaft. It was rebuilt in 1984 using 15,000 original bricks. It still hosts live music and also featured a legendary show by the supergroup formed by Paul McCartney, David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Ian Paice (Deep Purple), Mick Green, Pete Wingfield, and Chris Hall.
