The most mythologised nightclub in history, operating from April 1977 to February 1981. Andy Warhol, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Elton John, Cher, Liza Minnelli and Bianca Jagger were regulars. Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor and Grace Jones defined its dancefloor. The building now houses a Broadway theatre with a restaurant called 54 Below in the basement.
