The Story

One of the defining voices of Brazilian music, with anthems such as "Baby," "Bahia," and "Festa do Interior." She passed away in November 2022 and is buried in the Cemetery of the Third Order of Carmo, in São Paulo, in a mausoleum belonging to the family of her partner, Wilma Petrillo. The burial site continues to be the subject of a legal dispute. The singer's son is requesting the exhumation of the body to transfer it to the São João Batista Cemetery, in Rio, where Gal reportedly expressed a wish to be buried alongside her mother.
