Echo & the Bunnymen, John Lennon
1982
This bandstand, located on an island in Sefton Park lake, was erected in the 1910s and is also where Julia Stanley, John Lennon's mother, met Alfred Lennon in the 1920s, before they got married. On August 26, 1982, Echo & the Bunnymen played at the Larks in the Park festival, a concert filmed by BBC Two and broadcast on the Pop Carnival program months later. The bandstand is still standing, listed as a Grade II historic monument, and is still used for concerts and events within the park.
