Green Day, Coldplay, Charli XCX, De La Soul
2013
This store opened in November 2013 in a former 10,000-square-foot warehouse in Williamsburg. It was the first American outpost of Rough Trade, founded in London in 1976. The Williamsburg store closed in 2020, a casualty of the pandemic, and reopened in June 2021 inside Rockefeller Center, next to Radio City Music Hall. In January 2025, the brand expanded within the same complex with two distinct stores. Rough Trade Above is the original store, located at street level. Rough Trade Below is one floor down, at subway level, with 4,000 square feet dedicated to used records, CDs, Blu-rays, artist merchandise, audio equipment, and a larger space for live performances and autograph sessions, having already hosted Green Day, Coldplay, Charli XCX, and De La Soul.
