Green Day, Coldplay, Charli XCX, De La Soul
2013
This store opened in November 2013 in an old 10,000-square-foot warehouse in Williamsburg. It was the first American outpost of Rough Trade, founded in London in 1976. The Williamsburg store closed in 2021, a victim of the pandemic, and reopened that same year inside Rockefeller Center, next to Radio City Music Hall. In 2025, the brand expanded within the same complex with two distinct stores. Rough Trade Above is the original store, at street level. Rough Trade Below is one floor down, at subway level, with 4,000 square feet dedicated to used records, CDs, Blu-rays, artist merchandise, audio equipment, and a larger space for live shows and autograph sessions, having already hosted Green Day, Coldplay, Charli XCX, and De La Soul.
