RKCNDY

Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Chris Cornell, Temple of the Dog

1991-1999

The Story

This old club operated in a warehouse-like space, with two floors and great acoustics. Opened in 1991, it became one of Pearl Jam's favorite spots. On August 3rd, the band played live and filmed what would be their first official music video, for the song "Alive." The band made several recordings and used the actual live audio in the video instead of the studio recording. At the same show, Chris Cornell and Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron joined them on stage for a mini Temple of the Dog reunion. RKCNDY also hosted Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and dozens of local and international bands throughout the decade. It closed in 1999, and the building was demolished to make way for a Spring Hill Suites hotel, which occupies the site to this day.
