Tom Jobim is the legendary composer of Garota de Ipanema, Águas de Março, and Wave, and one of the architects of bossa nova along with João Gilberto and Vinícius de Moraes. Tom Jobim died in New York in 1994 and is buried in Cemitério São João Batista, known locally as the cemetery of the stars due to the number of Brazilian icons resting here.
