The Story

This studio opened in 1967 as Continental Sound Recorders, but it was in 1970, when businessman Seymour Heller bought the space and rebranded it Producer's Workshop, that the place earned its industry reputation. It was here that Ringo Starr recorded his solo albums Ringo and Goodnight Vienna, with appearances by the other three former Beatles, Steely Dan recorded basic tracks for Aja, and Fleetwood Mac mixed Rumours. In 1978, Pink Floyd practically moved into the room for two months to do overdubs and mix The Wall. In the 1990s, it became Westbeach Recorders, the punk label of Brett Gurewitz from Bad Religion, Epitaph. Since 2011, it has operated as Boulevard Recording, maintaining the same address since 1967.
