David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Madonna
Est. 1977–present
The old Consolidated Edison power station was converted into one of New York's most respected studios in 1977. David Bowie recorded Scary Monsters here, the Rolling Stones recorded Tattoo You, and Madonna recorded Like a Virgin. Jon Bon Jovi started working as a production assistant and janitor here, using the studio's off-hours to record his first demos. His cousin Tony Bongiovi founded the studio in 1977. Now operating as Avatar Studios, it is still active.
