1977–
Consolidated Edison's former power station was converted into one of New York's most respected studios in 1977. David Bowie recorded *Scary Monsters* here, the Rolling Stones recorded *Tattoo You*, and Madonna recorded *Like a Virgin*. Jon Bon Jovi started working as a production assistant and janitor here, using the studio's off-hours to record his first demos. His cousin Tony Bongiovi founded the studio in 1977. After operating as Avatar Studios between 1996 and 2017, the space was purchased by Berklee College of Music and reopened as Power Station at BerkleeNYC, still active.
