Palace

Roberto Carlos, The Ramones

1983–2012

The Story

Opened on April 5, 1983, with Roberto Carlos' Emoções tour. For almost three decades, the Palace hosted over 2,700 shows and 700 events, becoming one of the main stages in the country for national and international pop music. When the Ramones came to Brazil for the first time on January 31, 1987, at the end of the Animal Boy tour, this was their home. It was later rebranded Directv Music Hall and then Citibank Hall, in the same building, but with different names. It closed in March 2012. Soon after its closure, the old building was demolished to make way for real estate speculation in the area.
