Sepultura
1991
On May 11, 1991, Sepultura played a free concert in this square in front of Pacaembu for around 30,000 people. It was chaotic, turned violent, and even resulted in the death of a fan, contributing to the band's legend and negative reputation at the time. Years later, the same Pacaembu Stadium would host the first three editions of Philips Monsters of Rock in Brazil (1994, 1995, and 1996), with names like Black Sabbath, Slayer, Kiss, and Iron Maiden selling out the stadium. Thirty-five years after the square concert, Sepultura chose the same address, this time inside the stadium, for the final show of the band's farewell tour in November 2026.
