Christa Päffgen, known as Nico, is buried here in the Grunewald Forest Cemetery with her mother. She died in Ibiza in July 1988 due to a bicycle fall, which caused a head injury. Raised in Berlin, she sold lingerie at KaDeWe before Andy Warhol cast her in Chelsea Girls and she became the most distinct voice of The Velvet Underground.
