The Story

In 1996, Michael Jackson filmed the music video for They Don't Care About Us inside the Morro Santa Marta community overlooking Botafogo. It remains one of the few times a global pop star brought that level of attention to a location in Rio while respecting the population. A mural and a small monument now mark the spot where Michael performed.
