Liverpool Odeon Theatre

The Beatles

1934

The Story

This cinema opened on October 15, 1934, as Paramount, the largest in Liverpool at the time, with 2,670 seats. The Beatles performed there only once, on December 7, 1963, two shows on the same night that marked the band's return to their hometown after four months away, with a repertoire of ten songs including She Loves You and Twist and Shout. In 1968, the building was divided into multiple screens, a process that was repeated in phases in subsequent years, until it definitively closed on September 30, 2008. It was demolished between 2010 and 2011.
