The Story

Opened in July 2018 on Mathew Street, a few meters from the Cavern Club, the Liverpool Beatles Museum is the private collection of Roag Best, half-brother of original drummer Pete Best and son of the Beatles' road manager, Neil Aspinall. Roag grew up within the band's history. His mother, Mona Best, managed the Casbah Coffee Club, where the Beatles started. The first item in the collection was the original Casbah sign, which Mona was throwing away in a skip. Today there are more than 1,200 pieces, including George Harrison's Futurama guitar, John Lennon's Sgt. Pepper medals, the cello from "I Am the Walrus" and Pete Best's drum kit. The museum is next to The Grapes, the pub where the Beatles drank before and after shows at the Cavern Club.
