Jimi Hendrix

2002

The Story

This is the 9-meter high granite dome supported by three marble columns, inaugurated in 2002 by Hendrix's father. Originally interred under a simple headstone in 1970, Jimi's remains were secretly moved here the night before what would have been his 60th birthday. His father Al passed away seven months before the monument's completion, never seeing the project he himself conceived finished. The center of the dome was designed to house a bronze statue of Hendrix, but it was never installed.
