The Story

One of the great voices of 1960s MPB, famous for "Disparada" and his energetic stage presence alongside Elis Regina on the show *O Fino da Bossa*. Jair had a unique singing style, almost spoken, almost recited, which earned him the affectionate nickname "the first Brazilian rapper" decades before the genre existed here, especially in hits like "Deixa Isso Pra Lá." He died in 2014 and is buried here at Gethsemane Cemetery in section 15L.
