The Story

Douglas Glenn Colvin, also known as Dee Dee Ramone, is buried at Hollywood Forever. A founder and bassist for the band since 1974, he was also the Ramones' most prolific lyricist, authoring classics like "Rockaway Beach", "Teenage Lobotomy", and "Poison Heart". He left the band in 1989 but continued writing songs for his former bandmates until their career ended in 1996. In March 2002, alongside the other Ramones, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Eleven weeks later, on June 5, 2002, he died in his Hollywood apartment, becoming the second of the four original members to pass away. His tombstone bears a phrase that perfectly encapsulates his spirit: "OK... I gotta go now."
