The House of World Cultures, or simply HKW to locals, is Germany's national center for non-European contemporary arts and global digital/visual cultures. Located in Berlin, it serves as a vibrant hub for international art, music, literature, and performing arts. The building, which opened in 1957, became home to the HKW in 1989. In 1980, part of the curved roof collapsed and was rebuilt, reopening in 1987.
