The Story

This is the public hospital where Jimi Hendrix was born on November 27, 1942. His mother Lucille was 17 years old, and his father Al was serving in the army in Alabama, unable to leave to see the birth of his son. His request for leave was denied, and he would not see Jimi again until 1945, when he was discharged from military service. Harborview is still Seattle's main public hospital, the same building where the city's most famous guitarist came into the world, using magic to change music forever.
