1994
This store opened in 1994, in New York's East Village, founded by Dan Cook, who maintained a small space shared with a neighbor who taught piano and sold street finds. About a year and a half later, a leak from the upstairs apartment flooded the store's only CD section. Dan Cook saw this as "a sign from God" to only sell vinyl from then on. After 18 years at the same address in New York, with the rent rising, he moved to Highland Park, Los Angeles, first at an address on York Boulevard, before moving again, in 2014-2015, to the current address. It remains active, specializing only in vinyl, with every possible genre.
