Gas Works Park

The Story

This park, built on a former gas plant, was where Alice in Chains did their first official photoshoot in 1990. It is also the setting for Steve's marriage proposal to Linda in Cameron Crowe's 1992 film Singles. In May 1992, Pearl Jam planned a free benefit concert here, but the city council canceled it days before due to concerns about the expected crowd size. The band performed the show, dubbed Drop in the Park, at Magnuson Park. The park remains a must-see for anyone visiting grunge landmarks in Seattle.
