The Story

On 4 June 1976, the Sex Pistols played the Lesser Free Trade Hall upstairs to an audience of around 40 people. Among those present were the future members of Joy Division, The Smiths, The Fall, and Buzzcocks, who had organized the show. The building is now a Radisson hotel, but the upstairs room where it all happened still exists. The building was built in 1853, and it served as Manchester's premier concert and orchestral venue hosting historic acts like Bob Dylan and Pink Floyd too in the Main Hall.
