Epping Walk Bridge

Joy Division

1979

The Story

On January 6, 1979, photographer Kevin Cummins took Joy Division to this snowy bridge in Hulme for a session that would become the band's most famous portrait. The legendary photo appeared on a NME magazine cover story and became one of the most reproduced and influential images of the post-punk era. Fans still visit the bridge to recreate the iconic image.
