Joy Division
· 1979
In January 1979, photographer Kevin Cummins brought Joy Division to this footbridge in Hulme before dawn to shoot what became the band's most famous portrait. The city has since replaced the original lamp posts and added a safety railing, but fans still come to recreate the image. The photograph appeared in NME and defined the visual identity of post-punk.
