The Story

This store opened in 1997 in a small shop on Oldham Street and a year later moved to its current address on Hilton Street, in the heart of the Northern Quarter. It is Manchester's only record store to have its own label, releasing exclusive Record Store Day editions. More recently, it compiled recordings by The Hoax, a punk band that featured Mike Joyce on drums before he joined The Smiths. Original Factory Records posters, T-shirts, and posters dedicated to Joy Division, New Order, Stone Roses, Smiths, and Oasis are spread across the walls. It remains active.
