Morrissey's Childhood Home

The Story

This is the house in Stretford where Morrissey lived from age 10 to 24, writing lyrics on a typewriter in the small front bedroom with the curtains permanently closed. A recent owner, stripping wallpaper, found an old layer with the Top 10 written in felt-tip, and the name 'Morrissey' drawn beside it, signed when he was ten. It was here that Johnny Marr knocked on the door in May 1982 to form The Smiths.
