The Story
Founded in 1969 by producer João Araújo, Cazuza's father, Som Livre quickly became Brazil's largest record label by riding the wave of soap opera soundtracks. For decades, having your music on a Globo TV soap opera soundtrack was the fastest way to national success. Roberto Carlos's songs accompanied several soundtracks over the years, and Cazuza himself recorded here as the lead singer of Barão Vermelho, between 1982 and 1985, when the band was part of his father's label.
