The Story

RCA Victor arrived in Brazil in November 1929, and in the following years, it would become one of the most important record labels in the history of Brazilian music. Its studio in Santa Cecília was the stage for decades of recordings that spanned the Golden Age of Radio, MPB (Brazilian Popular Music), samba, and Brazilian rock. Nelson Gonçalves recorded much of his work here. Carmen Miranda, Aracy de Almeida, Luiz Gonzaga, Maria Bethânia, Martinho da Vila, João Bosco, and Lobão passed through here in different decades. Lobão signed with RCA Victor, and his first solo album, *Cena de Cinema* (1982), was recorded here with Marina Lima, Lulu Santos, and Ritchie. In 1989, Viper recorded *Theatre of Fate*, produced by the Englishman Roy Rowland, considered one of the greatest Brazilian heavy metal albums and the last album featuring Andre Matos. The studio no longer exists at this address.
