Espaço Cultural Renato Russo

Renato Russo, Legião Urbana

The Story

Originally known as Teatro Galpãozinho, this space at 508 Sul was a mandatory stop for all dance, theater, and music artists from Brasília since the mid-1970s. Its programming brought together all tribes at the Feira de Música, from punks to MPB artists like Renato Matos and Mel da Terra, and also hosted Aborto Elétrico and Blitx 64. In 1999, it was renamed Espaço Cultural Renato Russo in posthumous honor of the city's poet. Today, it functions as a cultural center hosting events, exhibitions, and performances. It is one of the most visited locations on the Brasília Capital do Rock Route.
