The Story

This mansion was rented by Elvis Presley between September 1960 and November 1961, and between January 1963 and 1965. It was here that, on August 27, 1965, the only meeting in history between Elvis and the Beatles took place, with no photos, recordings, or press allowed. According to accounts of the night, Elvis was watching TV with the sound low when the group entered, and after a few minutes of awkward silence, he announced that he would go to sleep if no one had anything to say. The original house was demolished in 1988, with a new construction on the same plot in 1991.
