David Bowie, Edgar Froese, Tangerine Dream
1976
It was in this apartment, belonging to Edgar Froese, founder of Tangerine Dream, that David Bowie stayed for a few weeks in 1976, upon his arrival in Berlin, while his own apartment on Hauptstraße was still being renovated. In the building's entrance hallway, there is still a mirror where, according to neighbors' accounts, Bowie, Iggy Pop, and Brian Eno would look at themselves as they went up and down the stairs. Bowie's apartment was only one kilometer away, but this address on Schwäbische Straße continues to be sought out by fans who know the Berlin phase in more detail.
