The Story

This store was born in November 1985 inside Afflecks Palace, founded by John Berry and Martin Price, who years later would form the group 808 State. Throughout the 1980s, it helped launch Inspiral Carpets and hosted autograph sessions for The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays, becoming a must-visit spot during the Madchester era and one of the few stores in the UK to import dance music from abroad. The store left Afflecks, moved to Oldham Street, and permanently settled in Stevenson Square in 2011, where it continues to operate with a café and bar.
