Dschungel Nightclub

The Story

This nightclub was where Bowie and Iggy Pop spent many nights in the late 1970s, and where Nick Cave became a regular in the 1980s. The building had previously housed a Weimar-era nightclub and a jazz club where Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald performed in the 1950s. Bowie directly referenced it in his 2013 song "Where Are We Now?": "Sitting in the Dschungel, on Nürnberger Straße". The Dschungel is closed. The building later housed the Ellington Hotel, which closed in 2021 and is currently vacant, awaiting renovation.
