The Story

This singer and composer from Bahia arrived in Rio de Janeiro in 1938 with the intention of studying law and ended up inventing a part of Brazilian music. "Rosa Morena," "Maracangalha," "O Que É Que a Baiana Tem," and "Samba da Minha Terra" are some of his classics. He wrote over 100 songs. He died on August 16, 2008, at the age of 94.
