Chelsea Hotel

Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Leonard Cohen, Sid Vicious

· 1884–present

The Story

The red-brick Chelsea landmark that housed more musicians, writers and artists than any building in New York history. Bob Dylan wrote Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands here. Leonard Cohen wrote Chelsea Hotel No. 2 here about Janis Joplin. Sid Vicious was arrested here for Nancy Spungen's murder in 1978. Now a luxury hotel.
