The Story

Cássia Eller was born in Rio de Janeiro on December 10, 1962, and is considered one of the greatest voices in Brazilian rock. Daughter of an Army paratrooper sergeant, she spent her childhood moving between cities until returning to Rio. She started singing in choirs, and auditioned for operas and musicals before pursuing rock. Her career, spanning just 12 years, produced ten albums. Her first major hit was Malandragem, composed by Cazuza. In January 2001, she performed on the World Stage at Rock in Rio for 200,000 people in one of the most memorable shows in the festival's history. She died on December 29, 2001, at the age of 39. Fans still leave flowers and notes at her tomb in the Sulacap neighborhood, in Rio's West Zone. The App shows the very approximate location. Her resting place is at number 0014.
