Britannia Row Studios

Pink Floyd

1976–1995

The Story

Created by Pink Floyd in 1975 in a former church hall, Britannia Row was built for the recording of Animals and parts of The Wall, including the famous chant "We Don't Need No Education," featuring children from the nearby Islington Green School. The school's music teacher took the students to the studio in 1979 without prior authorization from the school board. The studio left Islington in 1995 and moved to Fulham, where it operated until it permanently closed in 2015. The original building on Britannia Row today houses offices.
