Opened on November 12, 1931, by the Gramophone Company (later EMI), it was the world's first recording studio built specifically for that purpose. It is also the birthplace of stereo sound, when engineer Alan Blumlein developed and patented the technology there, also in 1931. The Beatles recorded almost their entire catalog here between 1962 and 1970. Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and Oasis also recorded in this studio, today considered the most famous studio in the world. The studio is still active and has a small shop next door for music fans, and on the wall out front, repainted from time to time, fans from all over the world continue to write messages.
