Jazz, MPB, Bossa Nova
2017
The franchise of the iconic New York jazz club opened in Rio de Janeiro in 2017, in Lagoa, within the Lagoon Complex. The first venue did not survive financially, and an attempt to reopen in Ipanema, at the former address of the legendary Jazzmania, was thwarted by the pandemic in March 2020. The Blue Note only returned to the city in October 2023, this time on Avenida Atlântica, in Copacabana, on a site that once housed the historic Bolero nightclub, where Janis Joplin performed. The venue has established itself as one of the city's main stages for jazz, MPB, bossa nova, and instrumental music performances, combining haute cuisine and international-standard acoustics. Maintaining the label's tradition, the Rio branch promotes encounters between great names in global music and references in Brazilian music. Still active.
