Bar do Bolão

The Story

Open since 1961 in Praça Duque de Caxias, in Santa Tereza, Bar do Bolão has become an informal meeting point for the entire Belo Horizonte music scene. Skank, Sepultura, Pato Fu, Jota Quest, Lô and Márcio Borges have all been regulars. Paulo Xisto of Sepultura left a silver VMA astronaut here. It went viral in 2022 when someone finally noticed it. Sting came to visit the neighborhood and ended up here. After 55 years in the same mansion, the bar closed in October 2025 and reopened on the other side of the square, next to Cine Santa Tereza. The old mansion was at Praça Duque de Caxias, nº 288.
