Alice in Chains, Nirvana
Est. 1987
A 24-hour rehearsal warehouse under the Ballard Bridge where Layne Staley lived in 1987, when he invited Jerry Cantrell to stay. It was here that Jerry Cantrell began the original formation of Alice in Chains, reportedly auditioning purposely terrible singers in front of Staley until Staley relented and joined the band. Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Green River, Mudhoney, and Mother Love Bone all rehearsed here at various times. The building no longer exists. A strip mall is in its place now.
