Est. 1966
Designed by Oscar Niemeyer in 1958 and inaugurated in 1966, the Cláudio Santoro National Theater is Niemeyer's largest architectural complex in Brasília dedicated exclusively to the arts. The pyramidal facade is covered by a panel by Athos Bulcão. João Gilberto, Caetano Veloso, Maria Bethânia, and practically all the main names in Brazilian popular music have performed on this stage, alongside international names like Mercedes Sosa and Astor Piazzolla. After being closed for over a decade for renovations, the theater reopened in December 2024, with Plebe Rude paying homage to Brasília rock on one of the first nights of celebration.
