This legendary hotel opened in April 1963 and became the definitive spot for rock stars in Los Angeles. In the 70s, it hosted punk and new wave, with The Clash, Blondie, The Runaways, and Ramones circulating through its halls. David Coverdale of Whitesnake recalls that the hotel allowed his tour bus to park on-site after entire nights on the road. In the 80s, it became a hub for the metal scene, hosting Metallica, Iron Maiden, Kiss, Guns N' Roses, and Aerosmith, without ever losing stars like Phil Collins and Sting. In the hotel's basement is NightBird Studios, a recording studio that has produced Grammy-winning projects, and the Morrison Hotel Gallery displays historical rock photographs on its walls. A documentary about the hotel has been produced and will premiere soon. Still active.
