Sound Metaphors

2015

The Story

This store opened on November 30, 2015, in Kreuzberg, founded by DJs Nemo Ripoll and Castro Moore, who spent a year and a half renovating an old accounting office in partnership with the architecture firm Studio Karhard, the same one behind Berghain. The sound system was assembled with help from Mark Ernestus, co-founder of the legendary Hard Wax, and the premise from the start was simple: a store made by DJs for DJs, focusing on disco, house, and 1990s electronic music. In June 2025, after the rental contract was not renewed, the team closed the original unit. Months later, it reopened at this new address in Neukölln, maintaining its own label for reissues and compilations and the same loyal public of collectors and producers.
