Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Alice in Chains, Dave Grohl
1974
This studio was set up by Robert Lang in 1974, in the garage of a house in Shoreline. Over the years, he excavated the land beneath the house itself to create concrete rooms below the backyard, with ceilings about nine to ten meters high, dug directly into the hillside. It was there that Nirvana held their last studio session, between January 28 and 30, 1994, recording "You Know You're Right." After Nirvana's end, Dave Grohl returned alone and recorded all the instrumentals for Foo Fighters' debut album in just six days. Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Heart, and Death Cab for Cutie have also recorded here over the years. It remains active to this day.
