The Queens beach that inspired one of the Ramones' most joyful songs, Rockaway Beach from the 1977 album Rocket to Russia. Dee Dee Ramone and other band members spent summers here as teenagers, dreaming of escape from Forest Hills. The song became the closest thing the Ramones had to a mainstream hit. The Beach 94th Street Amphitheater in Rockaway Beach is an outdoor venue located right on the iconic boardwalk where musicians and fans launched a major campaign to officially name it "The Ramones Rockaway Beach Amphitheater". The venue regularly host Ramones tribute nights.
