The Ramones
· 1970s / 2016
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, the future members of the legendary band The Ramones (Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee, and Tommy) grew up in the neighborhood and used the ramp of this parking garage at the Thorneycroft Apartments as a local hangout to escape boredom. In 2016, during the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the first album, artist Ori Carino painted a mural of The Ramones sitting right there on top of the fence. The Queens Museum organized the inauguration. It is a few minutes from Forest Hills High School.
